During my last trip I stayed at Blackwoods hotel on Soi 7. A bit of a walk from Soi 6, but the hotel is nice and somehow quiet even being on Soi 7! Plenty of beer bars too on Soi 7 plus easy to walk to beach rd to take in the sunsets with a beer

The beach at Da nang is outstanding. when the wind is from the east the surf is great. Just about everyone you talk to is from Hanoi. I was there in 1971 under a lot different situation. Most of the Vietnamese I knew were also from Hanoi or somewhere else up north. I said back then that after the war this is going to be the best vacation spot in Vietnam.

Great content and was just curious if you are bouncing around like you said you were going to in your earlier videos from place to place or have you decided to purchase somewhere and"plant roots"? That would be an interesting topic for a video... Especially given the new laws Thailand put into effect in January with taxing people who live there.

I am going to give everyone universal, great way to get a Tuk-Tuk or gypsy cab price agreed to without getting into arguments at the end of the ride. This require that you not be a person of low intelligence. It's called planning and visual confirmation. ALWAYS, ALWAYS have enough different denominations of bills or coins to make any price on your person, don't expect drivers to make change, they hate to make change and it's their opportunity to screw people at the end of the right. If the ride should be 200 Baht, then you get out exactly 200 baht in bills and you show it to the driver when you negotiate the price until it's agreed, remember he is Thai, you sound like an scratchy record to him but he can see clearly 200 baht and understands and can agree. If he demands 250 and you agree, you don't get into the cab/tuk until you pull out another 50 and show 250 and get him to agree showing him the exact amount. He agrees, you get in and at the end of the trip you get out and shove the 250 into his hand and walk away with only a smile and a thanks. I have used this in Latin America, Asia and it has NEVER failed to work and keep the driver under control of wanting to rip me off. I learned the hard way back 35 years ago in Latin America and got really pissed getting into arguments with drivers and thus came up with a winning technique.
